“MUSIC…IS THE LANGUAGE WHICH PENETRATES MOST DEEPLY INTO THE HUMAN SPIRIT…”

– Yehudi Menuhin, Founder of Live Music Now

For over forty years, Live Music Now has worked alongside those with reduced access to live music, in care homes, schools, hospitals, hospices and community settings across the UK. Our approach to live performance is one of collaboration: listening to the staff and participants to craft engaging concerts and residencies in a range of genres.

Performing in front of these extraordinary audiences in unfamiliar surroundings offers the young artists an important experience on the path to human and artistic maturity and promotes a sense of their own sensitivity and charisma as well as the healing, comforting effect of their music on the listeners.

Talented musicians up to the age of 28 can apply to Live Music Now. During auditions at the music academies, they are selected according to strict criteria by a jury consisting of university professors and representatives of the respective association and accepted into the Live Music Now sponsorship programme. They have the opportunity to attend further training events and are advised on the programming for the individual concerts. For their performances, the musicians receive a stipend, which - depending on the financial strength of the association - can vary within Germany.
