Samos Young Artists Festival 2018
The Schwarz Foundation is happy to invite you to the 9th Samos Young Artists Festival. From August 7th until August 14th, internationally renowned artists and young rising stars from Germany, Greece, Georgia, France, Turkey, the U.S., Russia, and China meet on the Aegean island to perform eight open-air concerts in the Ancient Theatre of Pythagorion. Alongside the artists, the audience is invited to be inspired by the lightness of the Greek summer, the historical significance of the location, and the beauty of the music.
The Festival's artistic directors, the pianist Masha Ilyashov and the cellist Alexis Karaiskakis-Nastos created this year's programme as a musical journey bridging cultural and national divides. The repertoire ranges from 18th- and 19th-century European classics through to Italian Baroque music, contemporary-music creations to traditional sounds of the Mediterranean. The festival concludes with a recital by the winner of the Concours Gezá Anda 2018 triennial international piano competition.
